Select a Question: 1. , 2. , 3. , 4.  or 5.

1. Describe how you felt this course improved your Internet and programming skills compared to what you already knew when you began.

I know much more and I feel very comfortable with the Internet.

This course helped me learn more about the Java language so I can deal more with Java, and I learned how to make a Web page.

I know how to make my own home page.

I learned how to make Web pages.

Yes, I believe that I have a fairly good understanding of how to develop Web pages and related projects.

This course has helped me by teaching me how to do other things on the computer other than checking e-mail and (re)searching. I know how to make Web pages, download programs, etc.

This class has taught me a lot about getting backgrounds, getting images, making images. You can create them any way you want to.

Select a Question:  1. , 2. , 3. , 4.  or 5.

2. In your opinion, do you think that this course made a contribution to the skills useful for success in other courses and/or to the computer literacy and skills necessary for one to be considered an "educated professional" ?

Yes.

Yes, you can use the knowledge of making a Web page for other courses.

Yes, we can apply what we learn in the class to other subjects. The Applets can be incorporated when we are doing research reports.

Yes.

Yes, this could be useful for building Web sites for pharmaceutical companies.

I think the course helped my computer skills, but I don't think it contributes to one being considered an educated professional but maybe a well-rounded professional.

Yes it did. It gives you a little more information about computers and the Internet.

Yes, I think this course is useful for me in the future, for my computer background.

Yes. In the future one may have to put up a Web page for commercial use.

Yes.

I did learn a lot throughout this course. It helped me to understand more about the Internet and programming skills, especially to create a Java applet by myself.

It helped me know how to create a Web page which I did not know before.

From this course, I can now use applets on my Web page and make animated GIF's giving my Web pages a more aesthetic appeal and look. I've even picked up on a few html command lines that I didn't previously know.

3. Was this course "fun" as advertised?  If so, describe what you felt most contributed to this in terms of both the content and structure of the course.  If not, explain why and try to give suggestions that would help make it more fun.

Yes. We made Web pages and used our imagination as well as computer skills learned.

Yes, I've never had fun doing a "research paper" until making a Web page on Genomics.

Yes, Making Applets and animated applets is fun.

Yes, the class structure itself made it easy to come.

It was okay--the course material was pretty manageable. It could be a bit more interactive and the instructor could explain more.

Yeah, it was fun trying to make Web pages with interesting backgrounds and cool graphics.

Yes. The making of applets was fun, seeing the different things in them.

Yes, I think this course was fun.

Kind of, it would be more fun if we concentrated on knowing how to use the Internet and create a Home page, but not on the content of the page.

Yes, letting us do what we want whiile meeting the requirements for the Java coding kept it interesting.

Select a Question:  1. , 2. , 3. , 4.  or 5.

4. Reflect on whether or not you feel that you gave your best effort in the course, and if not, what do you think you might have done differently that could have improved your learning?

I gave my best.

I would read the JAVA book more often to broaden my knowledge of JAVA.

Yes.

If we had a better understanding of directions it would have been easier. But I put quite a bit of effort forth.

Yeah, I gave my best effort. I think I need to pay more attention to the JAVA language cause it's difficult.

Yes. I gave my best effort in this class. I needed to pay more attention to the JAVA part--the actual programming.

To complete my assignments.

I did not give my best, but I did not get careless about it either.

I gave it my all.

Select a Question:  1. , 2. , 3. , 4.  or 5.

5. Any other suggestions for improvement, regarding the instructor, course content, or structure?

Computer lab needs some problems worked out. Dr. Pais is a good instructor--very interested and knowledgeable. Good with students.

The course is fine. The lab needs improvement.

Dr. Pais is a very supportive instructor.

More time for major projects.

Again, directions for projects should be a bit more detailed and elaborated on.

Worksheets for each applet to introduce the new JAVA language and what each part means.

Describe the applet code in detail. Show exactly how it affects applet on handout.

None that I can think of at this moment.

Maybe let us really write a JAVA code [completely from scratch], maybe a short one.

The only problems were with the computers and the lab. The problems were out of Dr. Pais' control.

Faster equipment.
