Organizations in Charge
A U.S. Government interagency working group was brought together on Decmeber 14, 1994 to consider the globabl threat of emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases. The group was established under the supervision of the Committee on International Science, Engineering,a nd Technology Policy (CISET) of President Clinton's National Science and Technology Council. The groups membership, included representatives from more than 17 different Goverment agencies and departments, reviewed the U.S. role in detection, reporting, and response, to outbreaks of new and re-emerging infectious diseases.
The CISET Working Group on Emerging and re-Emerging Infectious Diseases comprised the following agencies and organizations:
